It is a difficult decision to temporarily close but we all must do our part to flatten the curve and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Due to the escalating health crisis in the five boroughs, we no longer feel we can operate with the level of service and safety we owe to our employees and clients. Though moving is an essential business service under Gov. Cuomo’s order to pause, we believe that we should only operate if we can reasonably ensure the safety of our team and our clients.
Read on for details on why we’re temporarily closing:
- We can no longer acquire the personal protective equipment, disinfectant, hand sanitizer, etc. to properly supply team members. Any remaining supplies we have will be donated to a medical center or essential business in need.
- Movers must commute to work, but trains are still crowded and service has been reduced.
- Teams share a tight space in a truck cab and cannot social distance from each other.
- The nature of the job means interacting with several people throughout the day.
This has been an unpredictable time for everyone. While we will not be on the road in the short term, please be in touch if you think there is any way we can be helpful to the community amid this crisis.
How you can support local businesses closing during this time:
COVID-19 has affected our local business community more than anything before it. While a business may not be profitable during this downtime, reviews, social media shares and likes are evergreens way to bolster a business. We’ll be featuring our favorite local spots and more ways to support them on Instagram and Facebook @coolhandmovers.
Please take care of yourself and your loved ones,
The Cool Hand Movers Team 👋
